Salvador Lawrence Oak Street Campus Rotary Student of the Month

Congratulations to Salvador Lawrence (aka Sal) from Oak Street Campus who is Hillsboro Rotary Club Student of the Month. Sal celebrated his accomplishment with his mother, Fabiola Lawrence, sister Adela Lawrence, family friend Josh Espinosa, and teacher Catherine Jager at the Rotary lunch meeting. Sal is part of the Hillsboro Big Picture program and was full of gratitude, thanking rotary, teachers, Oak Street staff, and family. Special thanks to his mom and sister for reminding him that progress doesn't always look perfect, but it still counts. Also a shout out to OSC social studies teacher Kyle Boone, who offered a public speaking class he didn't expect to put to use so quickly. According to Sal, Oak Street Campus offers teachers who don't see just grades. The OSC staff worked with Sal continuously to ensure he could stay on track to graduate. They showed him that asking for help is not a weakness, it's part of growth. With their help, he ended up having amazing attendance and straight A's. Sal now knows that sometimes the people who struggle the most, develop the strongest skills. He has become a quiet leader, and uses those skills to help others. Sal's story is inspiring, and we wish him continued success in his future endeavors!
